Money for Youth Windsurfers

 From Young People's forum, X-press
Young windsurfing members have secured capital grant funding for the youth
of North Lincolnshire & Humberside Sailing Club. Nervous Hannah Bushell and
George Bowles answered questions to a panel of seven young people from the
North Lincolnshire Youth Forum on Wednesday 06 February 2007 and were
successful in their application for £4988. The money will be used to purchase
beginner and more performance windsurfing equipment for our new youth windsurfers
and those who progressed so well using equipment purchased with our first
X-press Youth Forum funding grant.
The Club would like to give George and Hannah a big high five for their
effort and time.

New safety boat

North Lincolnshire and Humberside Sailing Club, home of North Lincs Invaders is pleased to announce the arrival of a new safety and coaching boat thanks to £1,000 support from the North Lincolnshire Community Pot.

Youth windsurfing Team 15 weekly training sessions were so popular in 2007 that an additional safety and coaching boat was needed for the 2008 season.  The boat will also be a boon to the club's busy training week run every August in the school summer holidays.

The Jeanneau Rigiflex newmatic 360 is well suited to the task and is rapidly becoming the standard safety boat at the club thanks to its low maintenance and ease of use.

We are extremely grateful to our funders for their assistance as without them we would not have the equipment and facilities to deliver our training activities.

Classroom

£6,000 New Grant Aid Support for North Lincs & Humberside Sailing Club, home of North Lincs Invaders

We are pleased to announce that we have been awarded £5000 from the Sport Relief Small Grants Programme towards the cost of converting a little used part of the clubhouse into a classroom.  This will help the club better deliver the theory part of Royal Yachting Association dinghy and windsurf training courses and provide a much more suitable venue for T15 youth windsurfing and dinghy race training briefing and debriefing sessions.

This is a much needed addition to the club facilities and will be completed for the start of the season.  This grant bid was successful because the panel felt that our application supported  our work to increase access to sports that people from deprived backgrounds wouldn't normally achieve and providing positive sports activities for children with behavioural problems.  We have achieved this through work in partnership with Sea Cadets, Scouts, Sea Scouts and school groups to deliver training to young people throught the season and are proud of the achievements these youngsters make through participation in our sport.

North Lincolnshire Council Leisure Services Sports Grant Aid has provided partnership funding of £1,000.  This recognises our commitment to increase participation in sport and active recreation and means that communications for safety and coaching on the water can be improved and coaching can be developed by the use of audio visual tools.

Grant support is important to the club, as as we would not have the equipment or facilities to deliver our activities without it.  We are very grateful to our funders for their support.
